Marlinistry House Music Mixes Introduction to Underground House Music

Its 1984. Were in the breakdance era. I’m aged 10/11. We had no WWW. We had no music streaming services. We never sat in. We played out. We were playing out one day and a car parks up with this music tape cassette playing loud. It caught my ear
instantly. I recognised it. Inspector gadget with rapping and beat boxing. I had never heard anything like it. It was of course, The Show by Doug E Fresh & The Get Fresh Crew. The person whom was driving the car was my friends uncle. I asked him if l could copy the tape. He did it for me at my friends house. The tape was a recording of a pirate radio station called WBLS. And this was my introduction to underground music. Whilst listening to this tape, the DJ kept giving the radio signal number. So l tried it on my ghetto blaster l'd been bought for Christmas. It was an FM frequency of around 90 and the 
tuner has a dialler. My first attempts l couldn’t find the station. Then one Friday night l found it.

And this was my first introduction to house music being spun live and direct by DJs in Chicago.
Id be listening to tunes before they were even released over here in the UK. The Show by Doug E Fresh & The Get Fresh Crew did not hit the UK charts until 1985.
